Subscription Update Obituary

John A. Smith, 81, formerly of Quoboag Avenue and recently of Putnam, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in his home.  He is survived by two sons, Scott A. Smith of Worcester, and Brian J. Smith and his spouse Kina Iverson of Putnam, CT; his brother, Ronald; his sisters, Barbara, Priscilla, and Shirley; five grandchildren, Gage, Mina, Damien, Thomas, and Kendra; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two daughters, Robin Smith and Michelle Blandon; and a grandson, Andrew.  He was born in Worcester, son of the late Harold F. and Alma M. (Marchand) Smith, and lived in Oxford for 42 years before moving to Putnam, CT, three years ago.

Mr. Smith worked as a mechanic and operated his own garage in Worcester.  Later, he worked for Sakrete Concrete in Oxford for many years.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on cars.  He built his own car and raced at the track in Westboro many years ago.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  Calling hours are Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
