Subscription Update Obituary

     Joanne R. (DeJoinville) Pike, 78, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at UMass Hospital in Worcester.  Her loving husband of fifty-one years, Richard J. “Dickie” Pike, predeceased her in April 2010.

Joanne is survived by a son, Richard J. Pike and his wife Teresa of Worcester; three daughters, Judith A. Pavone of Hudson, Colleen M. Shanahan and her husband Kevin of Shrewsbury, and Maureen A. Burroughs of Florida; two brothers, Robert DeJoinville of Shrewsbury, and Joseph DeJoinville of Jefferson; a sister, Carol Leroux of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren, James Pavone, Jr., Erin Shanahan, Kira Johnson, Stephanie Mailly, Cory Pike, Michael Burroughs, Tyler Burroughs, and Meaghan Shanahan; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Joseph and Florence (Lundquist) DeJoinville, and grew up in Shrewsbury, where she graduated from Shrewsbury High School.

Joanne was a Licensed Practical Nurse at The Greenery in Worcester, having previously worked with patients at Hahnemann Hospital for many years.  She enjoyed knitting, reading a good book, and travel.  Most precious to her was her family and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, their young spirits and love made her heart swell with joy.

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, July 8, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral Service will be on Monday morning, July 9, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
