Subscription Update Obituary

     James Robert Pottle, Sr., 81, a long-time resident of Worcester, MA and resident of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, FL.

James was born in Worcester, MA on May 4, 1936, son of the late Clarence M. Pottle, Jr. and Dorothy (Lussier) Pottle.

James leaves behind his wife Maureen E. (Kane) Pottle, as well as his four sons; James R. Pottle, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Cape Coral, FL, David E. Pottle, Sr. of Spencer, Stephen G. Pottle and his wife Margaret of Worcester and Kevin C. Pottle of Cape Coral, FL.

James leaves behind his sister-in-law Marcia (Lavoie) Pottle, as well as his brother David A. Kane and his wife Paula of Naples, FL. He was predeceased by his brother Clarence E. Pottle and his sister Ada D. (Pottle) McGraw and her husband Robert.

James also leaves behind a number of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as a great number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James was a great man who showed many forms of strength over the course of his life, taking great pride in caring for his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and scuba diving, as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family celebrates him for his hard work and determination that he showed throughout his life.

James grew up in Worcester, MA where he then went on to start his own family. He proudly served his country during the conflict in Korea, serving from January 15, 1954 to January 18, 1957.

James was a member of the Alhambra Council #88, where he served as the Grand Knight and held the rank of Fourth Degree Knight. James was also a lifetime member of the Elks and a member of the American Legion.

For thirty-three years, James worked as a machinist and process engineer at Heald Machine Company in Worcester. He also regularly worked on carpentry projects. He was well liked by his coworkers and worked hard every day to help support his four boys and wife. James will be warmly remembered by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all.

Calling hours for James will include a receiving line at Immaculate Conception Parish, 353 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605 on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10 a.m., followed shortly thereafter by a Memorial Mass at the church and then Military Honors outside the church in his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Hospice House, located at 2430 Diplomat Pkwy E., Cape Coral, FL 33909.
