James J. Moen, Jr., 88, was called home to God on February 20, 2014. His beloved wife, Fran, was at his side throughout his passing. Jim was a wonderful, caring man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his family and close friends.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late James J., Sr. and Anna (Hurd) Moen and was an Army Veteran of World War II. Jim worked at U.S. Steel in Worcester for many years. After the Worcester plant closed, he worked at Phalo Corporation in Shrewsbury and Rotman’s Collectibles in Worcester. Jim and Fran relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida about twenty years ago. Jim continued to work for the retirement community that they lived in, Carefree Cove Park, until he was 87.
Jim’s family was what meant the most to him. He was married to Frances (O’Connor) Moen for 66 years. He also leaves two sons, Michael and his partner, Terry Mascena, Daniel and his wife Patricia, and three daughters, Kathleen Moen, Pamela Moen and Joyce Moen and her partner, Linda Elliott. Another son, James III, passed away previously. He also leaves his brother Paul Moen, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jim worked incredibly hard for his family over seven decades. His biggest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed listening to music, going out dancing with his wife, and bowling.
A Mass to celebrate his life will be said at Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 26th. All are welcome to attend. Visiting hours and burial services will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vitas Community Connection, 5420 NW 33rd Avenue, Suite 100, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33309 in Jim’s memory.
Arrangements are under the care of LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler Street, Worcester.
