Subscription Update Obituary

     Irene L. (Bruneau) Landry, 78, of Whittemore Street, died Tuesday, Feb. 2 in her home after an illness.

Her husband Leon J. Landry died in 1981. She leaves two sons; Dwayne L. Landry of Leicester and Corey L. Landry of North Brookfield, five daughters; Laura Stanikmas and her husband Phillip of Leicester, Donna Marie of Auburn, Lisa Johnson and her husband Brad of Leicester, Sunny Aruda of Oregon and Linda Sanches and her husband Ron of California, a sister; Elizabeth Stromberg of Auburn, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a step-son Jeff Maynard of Webster and her beloved dog “Baby”. She was pre-deceased by a grandson Justin.

Mrs. Landry was born in Worcester, daughter of Wilfred and Anna (Stone) Bruneau. She was a residential supervisor for many years at The Bridge of Central Mass in Southbridge retiring in 2003. She was a former Boy Scout Leader with Troop 116 in Spencer for 7 years and was the Chairperson of their fund raising committee. She was a foster mother to over 89 children. She enjoyed camping and loved traveling with her sister. She was the glue that kept her family together and was loved by many.

In accordance with Irene’s wishes funeral services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Irene’s life will be held Sunday, Feb. 14 at 1:00 PM at the Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138, 175 Main Street, Spencer. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Why Me, 1152 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602. J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is directing funeral arrangements.
