Subscription Update Obituary

     Helen K. (Kaminski) Sklarz, 83 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Homestead Hall surrounded by her loving family.

Helen’s husband of 64 years, Walter Sklarz, Sr. passed away on February 23, 2014. She is survived by her son Walter “Skip” Sklarz, Jr. and his wife Marites of Southbridge; three daughters, Christina Sklarz-Libby of Durham, ME, Juliana Larson and her husband Randy of Charlton and Linda Daniels and her husband Joseph of Danielson, CT; her brother Robert Jendrzejewski and his wife Bette of West Boylston; two sisters, Janet Frascona and Carol Caputo and her husband Robert all of Monroe, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, James Alan Sklarz; a brother, John William Kaminski.

Helen was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late John Kaminski and Mary (Boruch) Klewiec. She attended Commerce High School and has lived here a good portion of her life. Helen worked for Memorial Hospital as a surgical kit assembler and later as lobby receptionist before she retired in the late 1980’s. She was very creative and had dreamed of going to Art School to become a commercial artist. She made ceramics, loved drawing, painting, sewing, crocheting and reading. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services for Helen will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Burial next to her husband will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 17th from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
