Subscription Update Obituary

     George V. Brown, Jr., 58, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after a brief illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late George V. Brown, Sr.

George will be greatly missed by his daughter, Lynn M. Bishop and her husband, Erik of Holden; his mother, June A. (Gudas) Brown of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, McKayla, Noah, Nathan, Alexia, Connor and Kaydence; his former wife and friend, Colleen (Gould) Brown of Rutland; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Gould, Jr., of Worcester and Mark Clockedile of Oakham; two sisters-in-law, Laura Hathaway of Worcester and Michelle Gould of Webster; former father-in-law, Kenneth Gould, Sr. of Worcester; his daughter-in-law, Meaghan Eaton; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey G. Brown in 2017 and his former mother-in-law, Nancy (Rice) Gould.

George graduated from Doherty High School and attended Worcester State College.  He was a butcher for Price Chopper for over thirty years prior to his illness. Previously, he worked at Astra Zeneca in Westborough, retiring after over 25 years. George enjoyed many things including; baseball, cooking, word puzzles and watching the Patriots, but his greatest passion was to spend time with his grandchildren.

George’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the staff of Two Lakeside ICU at UMass Medical Center in Worcester.Calling hours for George will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St, Holden.  Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the George V. Brown, Jr. Memorial Fund, c/o Bay State Savings Bank, 28 Franklin St., Worcester, MA 01608.
