Subscription Update Obituary

     George E. Hultberg, 91, of Southbridge formerly of Danielson, Connecticut and Port St. Lucie, Florida died peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by his children at Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare. He was the husband of the late Janice M. (Pingeton) Hultberg the love of his life, and beloved father to seven children, “The Gang” as he fondly called them.

Born, raised and educated in Worcester, the son of the late Evald G. and Hildur O. (Johnson) Hultberg, George enlisted in the Merchant Marine and served in the Navy during WWII. Upon his return home, he became a firefighter in Worcester. During his career as a firefighter, he was promoted to Captain and Deputy Chief. He dedicated his life to that of public service and was loved by all who knew him.

George is survived by his children, Robert Hultberg and wife Leah from Danielson, Connecticut, Mike Hultberg and his wife Callie of Wichita, Kansas. Steve Hultberg and his wife Angela of Greenwich, Connecticut. Jim Hultberg and his wife Mary of Warr Acres, Oklahoma, Joan Whitley and her husband Ricky of Wilson, North Carolina, Sandra Babon and her husband Stephen of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Judith Thebeau and her husband Edmond of Sturbridge, Massachusetts, brother Edward Hultberg, sister Marjorie Larson along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Clem Hultberg, and sisters Grace Hultberg and Olive Hultberg.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday, October 6 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Service follow at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
