Esther M. “Buzzy” (Fegreus) Elbe, 95, lifelong Worcester resident, passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at UMASS Memorial Hospital – University Campus, with her loving family at her side. Her husband of 69 years, the late Robert G. Elbe, Sr., predeceased her in 2015.

She leaves her devoted children: Susan M. Strozina and her husband Paul, of Auburn, and Robert G. Elbe, Jr. and his wife Kimberlee, of Worcester; her grandchildren: Jennifer J. Zoulias, Amy E. Berg, Colleen R. Hickey, Sarah E. Strozina, Julia R. Elbe, and Sophia G. Elbe; five great-granddaughters, Kasey L. Remington, Hannah I. Zoulias, Ella E. Berg, Annika G. Berg, and Esther J. Hickey; along with many nieces and nephews. Buzzy was also predeceased by her siblings: George Fegreus, Raymond Fegreus, and Claire Poirier; and their parents, George W. and Hulda M. (Anderson) Fegreus.

Born, raised, and educated in Worcester, she was a graduate of the David Hale Fanning Trade School, Class of 1944, specializing in Cake Decorating. Buzzy married her beloved Bob on September 21, 1946, and the pair settled into the home that he built on St. Louis Street for his growing family. She lovingly raised their children in that home, and was a devoted homemaker when the kids were young. Buzzy was also known for being quite the cake decorator, even working for several area bakeries.

In her free time, she enjoyed baking, cooking, traveling, and walking. Above all, her faith, family, and friends meant everything to her. She will be deeply missed by all the lives she’s touched in her many years.

Buzzy was a woman of good faith, as a former 92-year member of Bethlehem Covenant Church, and recent member of Salem Covenant Church, both in Worcester. She also sang in the choir of Bethlehem Covenant.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Buzzy’s funeral service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at the Salem Covenant Church, 215 E Mountain St., Worcester. Burial will be held the following day, Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM, in the Garden of Good Shepherd Section of Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
