Subscription Update Obituary

     Edward G. Kofton, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Worcester, the son of Alexander and Angeline (Bullan) and had lived in Shrewsbury and Rutland before moving to Millbury in 2012.

He leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Maria A. (Gralenski) Kofton; a son, E. Brian Kofton and his wife, Krystal and their children, Savannah and Alexander of New Bedford; two daughters, Linda M. Gasperini her husband, Jonathan and their children, Sean and Michael of Union, CT and Cheryl A. Levine and her husband, David and their children, Maximus, Sebastian and Zachary of Ayer.

Edward graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Worcester and attended Worcester Junior College and Anna Maria College. He served in the Army National Guard with 181st Infantry for four years before being honorably discharged. Edward was a supervisor in the department of Nuclear Medicine at St. Vincent Hospital, where he worked for 46 years before retiring in 2007. He was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Sacristan at St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland and St. Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury. Edward was a model train enthusiast and a frequent visitor of Walt Disney World.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
