Subscription Update Obituary

Dean A. Powell, 52, died on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital after a long fight trying to make it back home.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dawn Powell; his two children, Andrew  Powell of Oxford, MA and Amanda  Moran and her husband Jonathan of Southbridge, MA; his three grandchildren, Julleeanna Moran, Lena Powell, and Jaxon Moran; three brothers, Michael Wyman and his wife Karen of Deering, NH., Charles Dean and his wife Gretchen of Salem, CT., and Wayne Wyman and his wife Linda of  North Grosvenor Dale, CT; his sister, Sandra Ostromecky of Oxford, MA; a sister-in-law, Ellen Wyman of Hillsboro, NH; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Wyman, III.

Dean was born in Worcester, MA., a son of James Powell and the late MaryAnn (Boisvert) Powell. Dean moved to Oxford, MA in 2005 when him and his wife bought their home. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, Class of 1987, which is now known as Worcester Tech.

Dean just started a new job this year at Stanley Black and Decker access technologies as a repair specialist. He previously worked as a After Market Technician on automobiles for various companies in Worcester County for 31 years.  Dean was well known for being a hardworking man. He always gave to others and lent a helping hand when needed. Dean was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing X-Box, watching the Boston Bruins, taking rides on his motorcycle, and going shooting.

A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 4-8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 10 am in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dean’s name can be made to: American Diabetes Foundation, P.O.
