Dawn M. (Moran) Sobiech, 62 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at home after a battle with early onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
Dawn was born in Worcester, a daughter to the late Henry E. and Marguerite I. (Egnatosky) Moran. She graduated from Burncoat High School in 1973 and later received her bachelor’s degree in education from Worcester State College in 1978 where she was at the top of her class. Dawn was a preschool teacher for Worcester State College and then a first grade teacher for the City of Worcester Chandler Street Elementary School for 11 years before she retired in 2011.
Dawn is survived by her three children, Anthony J. Sobiech of Boston, Jeffrey J. Sobiech and Marina D. Sobiech with whom she lived and who also took extraordinary care of Dawn; her brother, Craig Moran of Worcester; a sister, Renee F. Remington of South Grafton; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three sisters, Denise C. Azzarone, Michele M. Moran and Hope E. Favreault and a nephew, Brian M. Favreault.
Dawn loved children and took pride in being an excellent teacher. She was a talented artist, loved to sew, and especially loved to decorate cakes for her nieces and nephews. She loved going on walks, bike rides, and taking pictures. Dawn was very loving, caring and dedicated to her family, she loved to help everyone. Dawn had a kind heart and took care of her own mother who also had Alzheimer’s.
The family would like to thank Elder Services of Worcester and especially Keisha Safford who took exceptional care of Dawn over the past few years.
Services for Dawn will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Joan of Arc Church, 670 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, January 26th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
