Constance V. Gould, 83, died Thursday, May 11 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield.

She leaves a son Michael A. Gould and his wife Susan of Arizona, a daughter, Deborah A. Brown and her husband Donald of Ann Arbor, MI, a brother, Frank Ford and his partner David Gillis of Shrewsbury, 8 grandchildren; Echo Damiano, Zachariah Brown, Rana O’Loughlin, Chelesa Falcetti, Michelle Gould, Jan and Sarah Gould, Afton Gould, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She also leaves her companion of 40 years Albert Rahall Sr., of Worcester, his son Al Rahall Jr., and his granddaughter Alisha McGlone.

She was predeceased by a son William Gould,III, a sister Irene Gould and a grandson, Jesse Gould.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Walter “Pete” Baribeault and Unabelle (Cote) Lachambre and lived many years in Spencer before moving to Worcester.

Constance was the owner and operator of Connie’s Salon on Stafford St. in Worcester for 35 years, retiring in 2000. After retiring she worked as an activities director for several area nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, her dog “Pierre,” and spending time with her family, especially her boyfriend Al, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie was always passionate about hair, makeup and fashion. She would never consider leaving her home without “putting her face on.” Her shoe collection would have been the envy of Imelda Marcos and the taller the heel, the better. Jewelry could never be an after thought. Connie was a firm believer in the layering effect. This was for her rule for necklaces, bracelets, rings, anklets and earrings. Sequins and sparkles were part of her everyday attire. She was proud of her French heritage and could often be heard muttering expletives in French much to the delight of her grandchildren. She was considered a decent cook but a terrible baker. She is known all over New England for her famous potato salad, no cookout was complete without it. Her love for all things sweet has been passed down three generations as well as her belief that ice cream is not just a summer time treat. White chocolate, eclairs and pistachios didn’t stand a chance if she was around. Connie enjoyed her luck at BINGO and scratch offs. From the comforts of her living room, she won the grand prize on The Price Is Right innumerable times. Connie liked to stay abreast of current news and events through various tabloid newspapers.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday, May 16 from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer, with a Mass at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St. Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A Calling Hour will precede the Mass form 9:30-10:30 A.M. in the funeral home.
