Chester A. “Chet” Lawrence, 59, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at UMass Hospital.

Chet is survived by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Darlene M. (Franco) Lawrence; three daughters, Angela M. Lawrence of Holden, Amanda J. Kiernan and her husband Owen J Kiernan of Boston, and Allison M. Manuel and her husband Kyle A. Manuel of Worcester; two grandchildren, Tori O. Maher and Colin P. Maher; nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was born in Worcester, son of the late, Chester F. and Genevieve (Borbone) Lawrence. Chet graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, and has lived in Worcester all of his life.

Above anything, family was the most important part of Chet’s life.  Nothing brought him more joy than “his girls” and his grandchildren.  He loved to be with family and considered his cousins to be the brothers he didn’t have.

Chet was a hardworking individual, working as an IT professional with Pierbridge Inc. in Marlborough and previously worked at Kewill Inc. in Chelmsford.  He had a passion for cars and worked for many years as an auto mechanic.  Chet was also a member and an active volunteer for the Saint Christopher’s Church.

A regular attendee of car shows, Chet had a passion for cars.  Chet loved to work on them and was proud of his T-Bucket and Corvette.  He was also a member of the Worcester Pistol & Rifle Club.  He enjoyed classic movies, and was willing to help people with anything that required handy man skills.

As Chet requested, there are no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m. in Saint Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester.  Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Chet’s memory by making donation to The Friendly House, 36 Wall St., Worcester, MA 01604.

MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, Worcester is assisting the Lawrence family with arrangements.
