Arlene (Palmer) Mulrain, 77, of Webster,  dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 8th 2016 with the family she loves gathered at her bedside after a courageous battle with cancer.

Arlene was born in Worcester, one of five children of William F. and Mary A. (Fallon) Palmer.  She grew up in Worcester, graduated from Commerce High school.  In 1958, married Robert J. Mulrain the “love of her life” for the next 58 years; beginning their life in Worcester raising their family before moving to Webster over 26 years ago.

Arlene worked for the City of Worcester at the former City Hospital for 20 years in Data processing before retiring.

She is survived by her husband Robert: three children, Robert A. Mulrain of Worcester; Nancy M. Cox and her husband John of Sutton, Karen L. Senosk and her husband Steven of Boylston; six grandchildren whom she adored and who adored her.  Robert A. Mulrain Jr., Nicole Kumor and her husband  Zbigniew, Alyssa and Kevin Bellino, Daniel and Mackenzie Cox; two great grandchildren, Timothy Mulrain and Olivia Kumor;  Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Her daughter in law, Marie Mulrain passed away in June of 2015.  Three brothers, William, James, & John Palmer and a sister, Grace Dubeau also predeceased her.

Arlene was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends, family dinners, cooking, reading, travel, maintaining her home and family summers at Cape Cod or in Maine.  Along with her husband Robert, their family always came first in her life no matter what.  Arlene was the family backbone and remained devoted to them throughout life. Her unwavering faith and family devotion kept her grounded and helped her during life’s challengers.  Arlene’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours,  Sunday, June 12th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  Her funeral will be held Monday, June 13th from the funeral home with a procession to St Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St where her celebration of life funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in Arlene’s name can be made to Why Me, Sherry’s house, 1152 Pleasant St Worcester 01603.
