Subscription Update Obituary

     Alice E. (Walsh) Hohler, 83, of Bartlett Street, died Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Webster Manor Nursing Home in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Robert C. Hohler who died in 2008. She is survived by three children, Robert A. Hohler and his wife Donna of Webster, Wayne A. Hohler and his wife Anita of South Yarmouth, and Deborah M. Ayers and her husband Ted of Norwich, CT; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Walsh Jr. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Damon) Walsh, and lived in Auburn before moving to Oxford in 1956. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1950 and Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester.

Mrs. Hohler was a registered nurse at Sandalwood Nursing Home for over 10 years, retiring in 1998. Previously, she worked at Hahnemann Hospital for 3 years and Webster Manor Nursing Home for over 20 years. She was a longtime member and choir member at the First Baptist Church of Worcester. She taught C.N.A. classes for many years at Sandalwood and Webster Manor nursing homes. She enjoyed sharing her time, and volunteered for several organizations including the American Red Cross and Oxford Senior Center.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, 111 Park Ave., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
