George R. Guerin, 72, of 298 Webster St., a longtime electrical engineer, died yesterday in St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Josephine M. (Golinski) Guerin; two sons, William G. Guerin of Leominster and Robert R. Guerin of Groton, Conn.; two daughters, Carol A. Stone of Worcester and Paula M. Howard of Charlton; three brothers, Paul R. Guerin of Auburn, Norman P. Guerin of Millbury and Richard Guerin of Oxford; three sisters, Cecile DesChenes of Auburn, Lorraine McDonough of Natick and Claire McGee of Quinebaug; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Philias P. and Emma L. (Lambert) Guerin, and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Worcester Junior College and attended Clark University. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asian-Pacific theater. He earned a Battle Star. Mr. Guerin was an electrical engineer at Entwistle Co. in Hudson for about five years, retiring in 1986. He was previously an electrical engineer at several other companies – including General Electric Co., Polaroid Corp., Barkley & Dexter Co., Crompton & Knowles Corp. and Harvey Weld Co. He was an avid bowler and played for many years at the Colonial Bowling Centre. The funeral will be held tomorrow from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
