John E. Anderson, 77, of 17 Duncannon Ave. died July 25, 1990 in his home after an illness.


He left his wife, Marion F. (Culliton) Anderson; a daughter, Eileen M. Allen of Worcester; two sisters, Gertrude Cummings of Worcester and Margaret “Honey” Savage of Paxton; a granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, he was a son of Emil and Agnes (Barton) Anderson, and lived in Paxton 18 years before returning to Worcester in 1978.


Mr. Anderson worked in the fine wire department at the former Thompson Steel Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was a 1931 graduate of South High School.


He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and a former member of St. Columba’s Church in Paxton. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and a 50-year member of the Bishop O’Reilly Assembly of the Knights of Columbus of Worcester. He was also a member of the First Friday Club of Worcester, the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, the Homestead Squares of Shrewsbury, and the Bay Path Squares of Boylston.


The funeral was held  from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, with a Mass in St. Columba’s Church, 20 Richards Ave., Paxton. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home during the evening calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
