****Arthur ‘Red’ or ‘Art’ Sylva Lavallee, Jr.**** Son of Arthur S. Lavallee, Sr. (d 1963) and Asenath Mary née Gove Lavallee (d 2007 m: Joseph Callery). Born May 29, 1933, left this world November 19, 2024. He was the only son and had three sisters, Ann (d 2008, m: Edwin Hendrickson), Mary (d 2018, m: Robert LaRoche), and Donna (m: Chris Rimington). In 1951 Red enlisted in the US Navy and was deployed twice during the Korean War. He served on the ships: USS Midway, Mindoro, and Saipan; discharged as a DM 3 where he became a draftsman and was very proud to have served, and of his veteran status. Besides his term in the US Navy his long-term occupations included: part-time commercial and residential painter with his 67-year best friend Donald Howard, a Patient Service coordinator at Rutland Heights Hospital, and a draftsman for Riley Stoker. He had memberships with American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a founding member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, served as President of the St. Petersburg FL chapter, where he was an expert builder and repairman of radio-controlled aircraft and boats. He was a terrific cook and enjoyed a nip or two at the pubs, or a cold brew at home. Due to his declining living situation Red was unable to attend the scheduled Honor Flight to Washington, DC that would have occurred in May of this year. A Memorial Service will be at Nordgren Funeral Home, 300 Lincoln Street, in Worcester on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:30 a.m. | |
