George R. Bishop, Jr. of East Brookfield, died Monday, March 23rd. at his home following a long illness. He leaves his wife of 49 years, Carolyn A. (Jones) Bishop, his sons; Jim F. Paradee and his wife Nikki of Wolcott, VT, and Scott C. Bishop and his fiancĂ©e Jen Holmes of E. Brookfield, 4 grandchildren; Kristine Paradee, Ashely George and her husband Jesse, Michael Paradee and his wife Ally and Abigail Bishop, several nieces and nephews including his special nephew and “best friend” Richard Muise of Spencer. He is predeceased by his daughter; Lisa Marie Paradee Bishop, his brother; Wilfred Bishop and sisters; Irene Bishop, Shirley Day, Beverly Hickey and Pauline Muise.

George was a self employed carpenter and owner of “George Bishop Home Improvement” until his retirement in 2001. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Born in Ware, he was the son of George R. and Lillian (Page) Bishop, Sr. and served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Funeral services for George, will be held on Monday, March 30th at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. calling hours will precede the services from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton with Military Honors will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers.
