Arthur A. Tateronis, Jr., of Auburn and Brewster, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the age of 87. Arthur graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester (’56) and St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont (’60), where he majored in pre-law. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Worcester State University and pursued additional graduate studies at Assumption College and Clark University. In 1991, he fulfilled his long-held ambition of becoming an attorney, graduating from Massachusetts School of Law.

Following his graduation from St. Michael’s, Arthur dedicated many years to education, teaching history and serving as a Certified Guidance Counselor at St. Mary’s in Milford and at Oxford High School. After graduating from law school, he served as a Visiting Professor at Assumption College, Atlantic Union College, Nichols College and Worcester State University, and worked as an attorney for the Massachusetts Teachers Association before entering private practice in Auburn. As a private practitioner, Arthur worked with his clients, many of whom lacked the financial means to (fully) pay him for his time and he counseled them in connection with major life events such as purchasing a home and drafting a will.

He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Worcester County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the National Education Association. Deeply committed to youth sports, Arthur coached baseball for many years and then served as President of the Auburn Little League. He remained a proud and active alumnus of St. Michael’s College and was a member of the Auburn Knights of Columbus.

Arthur enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod with his wife, Elaine, children and grandchildren and playing golf with his many friends. He traveled the world with Elaine and escaped the winter cold with her in Delray Beach, FL. He was an avid Boston sports fan, but his greatest rooting interest was in his grandchildren who he cheered on into their adulthood.

Born in Worcester, Arthur was the son of Rose D. (Novia) Tateronis and Arthur Tateronis, Sr. He was predeceased in April by his wife of 63 years, Elaine G. Tateronis, and by his sister, Judith Ann (Tateronis) Duke. Arthur is survived by his son, Craig M. Tateronis, of Boston, and Craig’s wife, Kathryn Tateronis, and by his daughter, Shari-Ann Goudreau, of Auburn, and Shari’s husband, Kevin Goudreau. He was the beloved grandfather of Craig M. Tateronis, Jr., Helaine-Rose Goudreau (and her husband Conor Kenny), Phoebe Tateronis, Eric Goudreau (and his wife Shelby Goudreau), and Jack Tateronis, 2nd LT USMC (and his fiancée Amanda Rigge). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to the Dr. Elaine G. Tateronis Scholarships at Worcester State University. Checks should be made payable to the Worcester State Foundation, Inc., and in the memo field, please indicate the Dr. Elaine G. Tateronis Scholarships.
