Barbara Ann Sandagato (1946-2025) was a colorful and vibrant member of the community known for her love of matching outfits, always perfectly quaffed hair, and spending time with family and friends. Barbara A. Sandagato, age 79, of Spencer, MA died of natural causes, at home, on Friday, September 5, 2025. Barbara was born at home, in Spencer, MA, where she lived with her parents Julia (Petraglia) Plumley and Cleo Plumley, and nine siblings. Her sister, Rita Mae Plumley predeceased her, shortly after birth. She was also predeceased by her sister Charlotte Plumley in 2008, and her brother Carmine Plumley in 2023. She is survived by her siblings Jean (Plumley) Letendre, and Rollo Plumley of CT; and Flora (Plumley) Ayotte, Edward Plumley, and Sheila (Plumley) Poulin of MA. Barbara loved her family. She was always eager to spend time with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family. She is survived by her husband, Joseph W. Sandagato, Jr.; and sons, Joseph W. Sandagato III and his husband Thomas Scott of Yarmouth Port, MA and their children Anthony, Victor, Malcome, Devin, Ashley, Tyler and Jamie; and James A. Sandagato of North Smithfield, RI and his daughters Henley and Lennon. Barbara attended Fanning Girls Trade, graduating from their dressmaking program in 1965. She worked for years as a stitcher at several companies in Worcester, MA. Starting in 1985 she found her true calling in working to support individuals with special needs. Originally working for the Worcester Occupational Training Center, the name was later changed to Seven Hills. In 1996 she received the MA Assoc. of Rehab. Facilities (MARF Award) for the recognition of her outstanding contribution to the lives of people with disabilities. During her career she worked as direct support worker in the workshop, and later advanced to teaching individuals to integrate into the workforce. She retired in 2018. Following her retirement Barbara enjoyed spending time with family, and with friends. Whether at Bingo! or out having lunch she was always ready to socialize. That was indeed her special gift. Bringing people together and celebrating. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral for Barbara on Saturday, September 27,2025 with a Mass at 10:00AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church 7 Church St. Spencer. The family appreciates offers of support. They request that any donations be made in her name to the American Heart Society. Arrangements are under the care of Pillsbury Funeral Home 163 Main St Spencer.
