Sidney C. Hazzard, Jr., 92, of Saundersdale Rd., passed away on Sunday, August 10th, in his home after a long illness.

His wife of 57 years, Maria L. (Tortis) Hazzard, passed away in 2010.  He leaves his son, Sidney C. Hazzard, III and his wife Theresa of Charlton; his three daughters, Delores ‘DeeDee’ LaRochelle and her husband Roland of Southbridge, Cynthia Hazzard Nichols and her husband George of California and Kristen Reeves-Hall of Brookfield; his sister, Carol Waryck of New York; his 8 grandchildren, Mark Lataille and his wife Shawna, Neenah Nichols, Hayley Hazzard, Amy Reynolds and her husband Patrick, Heidi Hazzard, Haevyn Hazzard, Amanda Monopoli and Isabella Reeves-Hall; his 5 great grandchildren, Timothy Reynolds, Ryan Clark, Jr., Rayleigh Clark, Ryder Clark and Bennett Sykes; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his three brothers, Charles Hazzard, Fred Hazzard and Earl Hazzard and his seven sisters, Ethel Martin, Lillian Rasicot, Pearl Cote, Ida Lamontagne, Mary Hebert, Elizabeth Cable and Gloria LaFleche. 

Sid was born in Southbridge the son of the late Sidney C. and Esther B. (Green) Hazzard.  He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War era.  He entered the Air Force in 1951 and served in Atterberry, IN, Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, Thule, Greenland and Fort Worth, TX.  He went to Amarillo, TX for Aircraft Engine Mechanical School for the Air Force.

Sid owned and operated Sid’s Auto Body in Southbridge for many years and when he retired he passed the business to his son Sidney Hazzard III.  Sid loved the wrecker he had for his business.

He enjoyed farming and getting his children and their friends to pick hay that he baled along with other farming chores.  He enjoyed trips to the casinos and watching all the different birds at his bird feeders.  

Above all the great love he had for his grandchildren and great grandchildren was forever and unconditional.  

His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15th, at 10:00am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, August 14th, from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
