Alberta Allen, 87, of Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away at Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center on Friday, July 4, 2025. Alberta was born on November 13, 1938, in Aliceville, Alabama, to the late Will and Maggie Humphries. Alberta received her education at Druid High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, later continuing her education at Shelton Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she graduated with a Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate. Alberta was raised in a religious family where her parents were longtime members of Plum Grove Baptist Church in Alabama, and this is where she accepted Christ. Alberta and her late husband Andrew Allen married over fifty years relocated to Worcester, Massachusetts, in the late 1960’s. Alberta was employed with Doctors Hospital, which is now called AdCare Hospital, for many years, where she later retired. After moving to Massachusetts, she continued her relationship with Jesus Christ as a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church under Pastor Richard Wright. Alberta was preceded in death her husband Andrew Allen. Her brothers Jessie Humphries, H.B. Humphries of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Will Humphries Jr of Worcester, Massachusetts. Her Sisters Veola Humphries, of Alabama, Katherine Wilson of Sawyerville, Alabama, and Ollie Harris of Worcester, Massachusetts. Leaving to mourn her loss are her sisters Margaret Blakney of Worcester, Massachusetts, Lillian Sowell of Birmingham, Alabama, and Leola Jones of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Alberta leaves niece, nephews, cousins, and friends. She leaves to mourn a nephew, Theodore Harris, and her caretaker, Rosco Humphries, and niece, Premier Harris. A special thanks to her nephew, Rosco Humphries, who diligently took care of her. The Blakney and Humphries Family would like to thank each of you for your many acts of kindness during their hour of sorrow. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 18th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St., Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. |
