Margaret Mary (Power) McClure died Thursday, July 13, 2023 after a short illness. She was 87. Born in Worcester on September 19, 1935 she was a daughter of the late Thomas Frances and Mary Elizabeth (Foudy) Power. A lifelong resident of Worcester she was a graduate of Commerce High School with the class of 1952 and then earned her Bachelor’s degree from Framingham State University with a degree in Home Economics and then her Master’s degree from North Adams in Education. She married Worcester native Stanley McClure on October 13, 1956 in St. Bernard’s Church. Peg worked for years as a registered dietician for Fairlawn Rehabilitation Center, Worcester City Hospital and lastly, Saint Vincent Hospital from which she retired in 1995. Margaret enjoyed reading and travel. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Worcester County Home Economists in Homemaking and the American Dietetic Association. She was predeceased by her daughter, Gayle McClure († December 1, 2014). In addition to her husband, Stanley, she leaves her children, Thomas McClure and his wife, Lynn of Loveland, Ohio, Mary Louise Doherty, and her husband, William of Holden, Lynn DeVarney of Northborough; her grandchildren, Sara Duennes, (Terry) of Loveland, Ohio, Matthew Doherty of Holden, Erin Miller, (Benjamin) of Loveland, Ohio, Brian Doherty (Leah Honor) of Worcester, Ryan McClure (Kate Brownson) of Chicago, Illinois and Tyler McClure (Marissa Kramer) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Elizabeth DeVarney of Northborough; five great grandchildren, Reid, Connor, Hudson, Joseph and Parker; her siblings, Robert E. Power of Paxton, Kevin Power (Ellen) of Worcester, Patricia Markley (Thomas) of Holden; many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Margaret’s life on Thursday, July 20, 2023, for visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester followed by her funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
