     Richard E. Potts, 91, of Worcester, died peacefully Thursday, October 10, 2013 in the presence of his wife Terry at St. Vincent Hospital.

     He leaves his wife Theresa M. Dorsey-Potts, a nephew Frederick Kluge and his wife Susan of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and several cousins including Rev. Robert D. Bruso of Fitchburg.

     His first wife, Constance “Connie” Potts, died in 1984. His sister, Helen M. Ingalls, died last year.

     Richard was born in Worcester, son of Robert and Julia (Ingalls) Potts. He lived in the Greendale neighborhood all of his life.

     He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served aboard a military hospital ship in both the European and Asiatic-Pacific theaters.

     Richard was a machine operator for the Vellumoid Co. in Worcester for 46 years, before retiring.

     He was a member of the Greendale People’s Church and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. He enjoyed playing golf throughout his life.

     Terry wishes to thank Dr. Robert E. Maloney, the staff of the Chadwick Medical group, and the I.C.U. staff at St. Vincent Hospital for the skilled and supportive care given to her husband.

     Calling hours are Sunday, October 13, the first anniversary of his wedding to Terry, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral service will be Monday, October 14 at 10 a.m. in Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis St., Worcester.

     Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
