Santia (Saez) Prego, 87, passed peacefully December 7, 2010 after a recent illness. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Alfonso Prego; two sisters: Maria Guzman, Felicita Covell, one brother: Francisco Saez; and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters: Modesta, Rosa, Nalda, Salome and brothers: Pablo, Manuel, Radamez and Ramon. Mrs. Prego was born July 18, 1923 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Felix and Ramona (Torres) Saez. She came to The United States in 1941 settling in Worcester where worked many years in the garment industry and at GE Telechron Division. Mrs. Prego and her husband then retired moving to Deltona, Florida for over 20 years, returning to this area in 2008. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Sweden Church in Worcester and Our Lady of The Lake Church in Deltona. Santia loved her family dearly. She also enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband, the beach and cooking. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Beaumont Northbridge for their love, compassion and wonderful care given to Mrs. Prego during her residence there. Memorial donations are suggested by her family in lieu of flowers to Salmon Hospice or Salmon Peace Team both at 85 Beaumont Drive, Northbridge, MA 01534. All are invited to gather with her family Saturday, December 11th from 9 to 10 am at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME SOUTH GRAFTON CHAPEL, 124 Main St., South Grafton followed by the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in St. James Catholic Church, 89 Main St. in South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. |
