    Jorma "Gus" Ernest Tammi, 92, died July 1, 2010 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough, after a short illness. He was born August 20, 1917 in South Porcupine, Timmins, Ontario, Canada. His father was Hannes Tammi, and mother Lydia (Rantala) Tammi both from Finland.

    Husband of Blanch (Giard) Tammi who died in February 1997. He leaves a son, Gerald and his wife, Patricia of Hopkinton, MA and a daughter Jeanne (Tammi) McElreath and her husband Troy "Jack" of Westborough, MA and Scottsdale, AZ. Three grandchildren, Abigail (Tammi) Mariani and her husband Damian, of San Mateo, CA, Stephan McElreath of New York, NY and Marti McElreath of Westborough and Shichigahama, Japan.

    He lived most of his life in the Worcester/Shrewsbury area and South Yarmouth on Cape Cod. Gus was a WW II veteran as a Master Sgt. and Chief Machinist on the USS Manchester during the European Campaign 1943 to 1945. He worked at various tool and dye and machinery companies. Allied Manufacturing, Millbury Engineering, Computer Control Company, Cheney Engineering, Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. before retiring as Chief Engineer at Donahue Industries of Shrewsbury.

    He was a founding member of the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church of Shrewsbury. He was an avid golfer- 35 years Twilight League at Juniper Hills in Northborough, MA and Bass River Country Club in South Yarmouth, MA. He had a love of music and played the violin, organ, piano, guitar, and saxophone. He played violin with the Worcester Symphony Orchestra for many years.

    He lived eight years at the Willows and Beaumont in Westborough.

    Private burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA.
