MILDRED E. BENSON

    Mildred E. (Ewing) Benson, 92, passed away, Mother's Day, May 10, 2009. Her husband of 70 years, Roy A. Benson, Sr., died in September 2008.

    She leaves a son, Roy A. Benson, Jr. and his wife Priscilla of Shrewsbury; 2 daughters: Barbara J. Crocker and her husband David of Northbridge and Janet E. Wendell of York Maine; a brother, Berwell Ewing of Westboro; 6 grandchildren, Susan Duchemin, James Benson, John Benson, Beth Tucker, Mark Crocker, and Matthew Crocker; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-granddaughter; a nephew, Alan Ewing of NY; and a niece, Linda Ewing of Virginia. She was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Ewing and a grandson, Jeffrey R. Benson.

    Mildred was born on January 22, 1917, in Harmony, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of Harriet B. (Crocker) and Percy B. Ewing. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and retired from Mass Electric. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and of Chapter N of the PEO Sisterhood.

    A Memorial Service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park will be private. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608 or the Lutheran Healthcare Center, 26 Harvard St., Worcester MA 01609.
