Daniel Jay Sprow, 60, passed away Sunday, March 2nd, at his home in Spencer after a courageous long-term battle with cancer. With him was his family, who loved him, and will miss him deeply. Dan is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Eddy) and his daughters, Amanda Joy and Alexandra Rae, all of Spencer. He is also survived by his parents, Donald and Joyce Sprow of Sebring, Florida; his sister, Donna Volpe and her husband Fred Volpe of Franklinville, New Jersey; his brother-in-law, William J. Eddy and his wife Margaret M. Donoghue-Eddy of Worcester; three nephews: Daniel Volpe of San Diego, California and Brian and Brendan Eddy of Worcester; and also his faithful dog, "Bandit". Dan was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and received his M.B.A. from Nichols College. Dan was a Veteran, having served honorably in the United States Army. Professionally, Dan took great pride in being a Lab Technician for the Worcester County Sheriff's Department. Additionally, he enjoyed working with the children of Lake Street School in Spencer each morning in the Before School Program. Prior to joining the Sheriff's Department, Dan worked for years in finance and realty. First, and foremost, Dan will be remembered as a man committed to his wife of twenty-three years and his family. He was extremely proud as he watched his daughters grow into intelligent and independent young women. He particularly enjoyed their participation in soccer and dance. His many friends will recall and miss his outgoing personality, his warmth, his unfailing loyalty, his intuitive mind and wide range of interests. Above all, they will remember Dan as a good man who made their lives richer by being their friend. A funeral service for Dan will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 12:30 PM, at the First Unitarian Church of Worcester, 90 Main Street, Worcester. Burial with military honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 5 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any donations be made to the Spencer-East Brookfield School District Before/After School Program, 302A Main Street, Spencer, MA 01562. |
