John Baptist Lima, 85, of 485 Grove St., died Tuesday Jan. 22 at Millbury Health Care. He leaves his wife Walburga (von Fischer) Lima and his only son, Peter John Lima of Los Angeles CA. He was predeceased by his elder brother Rufus, his sister Mary, and his younger brother Julius. John B. Lima was born in Worcester to Rufus A. Lima and Maria Florentina (Barros) Lima, and served with distinction as a Fireman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Alaskan theater of operations and elsewhere from 1941-1944. He later served briefly as an engineer in the Merchant Marines. Later he was associated with the College of the Holy Cross and was president of AAA Rubbish Removal in the 1970s. He was a member of VFW Post #8263, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4, American Legion Post #0341, and the Patrol Craft Sailors Association #53. A funeral service will be held Monday Jan. 28 from CASWELL-KING FUNERAL HOME 474 Grove St. with a Mass at 10 am. in Immaculate Conception Church 353 Grove St. Burial will be in Worcester Co. Memorial Park. Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 2-4 pm. Sunday Jan. 27. |
