Martin L. Fernsten, 85, of Worcester formerly of Woodland St, West Boylston, passed away Tuesday, January 22nd in St. Vincent Hospital. Martin is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 63 years, Mary A. (D'Ambra) Fernsten; two beloved sons, Martin R. Fernsten and his wife Lynda of Auburn, Jeffrey A. Fernsten and his wife Linda of Amherst; A cherished daughter, Pamela A. Lefferts and her husband William of Wookstock CT; a sister, June C. Rice of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A brother Carl Fernsten pre deceased him. Martin was born in Koping, Sweden, a son of Martin T. and Anna K. (Broman) Fernsten. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, earned his Bachelors degree in Economics from Boston University in 1950 and lived many years in West Boylston before moving to Worcester. Martin worked as an electrical Engineer more than 45 years. The majority of his years were for Norton Company before retiring in 1987. The remainder with Raytheon Corporation. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26th at 10:30 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 25th from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
