Violet T. (Luksza) Vires, 83, of Worcester, died Monday, September 10th in UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus after an illness.
Her husband James Vires died in 1984. She is survived by two sons, James J. Vires, Jr., and Timothy P. Vires of Worcester; three daughters, Deborah M. Vires of Worcester; Patricia P. Nee and her husband, Robert of Holden and Elizabeth A. Warren and her husband, Jeffrey of Auburn; a sister, Ann Tolman of Worcester; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Violet was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Boleflaus and Phyllis (Stakiewicz) Vires and had attended St. Mary’s School.
Mrs. Vires and her husband, James owned and operated the former Valhalla Restaurant, a poplar landmark on Old Lincoln Square in Worcester for many years before it closed in 1976.
Violet was a loving mother, grandmother, and cherished great grandmother and will be greatly missed by her entire family.
Funeral and burial services for Violet will be private. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn is assisting the Vires family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01710.
