     Gladys E. (Mc Cue) Beck, 87, of 164 Bullard Street, Holden, passed away Friday, June 29th, in St. Vincent Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Robert Beck for 65 years who survives her, and the beloved mother of four brothers, Robert Beck, Jr. of Holden, John E. Beck of Worcester, and Edward F. Beck of Puyallup, WA. Her fourth son, Ronald predeceased her.
Gladys was born on April 10, 1920 in Hartford, CT. She was the eigth of sixteen children born to Michael J. and Mary (Manhire) Mc Cue of Wethersfield, CT. She is survived by two brothers, James Mc Cue of Suffield, CT and Donald Mc Cue of East Hartford, CT, and two sisters, Dorothy and Lois (Mc Cue) Waters of Wethersfield, CT.
She was a loving and unselfish mother giving of herself to her children as well as others and was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 6 in Worcester. She worked for many years at the State Mutual Life Assurance Company retiring in 1984. While there she was an active member of The America Group Fellowship Club and joined them on many cruises and other events.
An avid Square Dancer she danced in many of the dance halls in the region and was on the committee that organized Worcester’s Square Dance Festival in 1981.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 3rd from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with services to follow at Caswell King Funeral Home, 1147 Main Street, Holden, MA. Burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. A reception will follow at the Holden Senior Center, 1130 Main Street, Holden, MA.
