James S. Loper Howell, born on December 24, 1914, in Wilmington, Delaware, passed away in his home on February 28, 2007.
  James was the son of Frank E. Howell and Ethel Mae Loper and was reared in Wilmington, Delaware where he attended public schools and was a 1932 graduate from Howard High School. While in school he participated in sports in which two of those years he was the captain for the varsity football and baseball teams.
  He is survived by his five children: June Delores Watson of New York, Patricia A. Potter of Baltimore, Maryland, Michael Collins of Boston, Stacey Luster of Worcester and Michele Collins of Boston, which who he thought of as a daughter. An eldest son, James S. Loper Jr. predeceased him, as did one brother and two sisters.
He also leaves many many relatives and friends.
  The funeral Mass for Mr. Loper will be held Monday, March 5th, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Church prior to his Mass. The family has entrusted the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with funeral arrangements.
