Leonidas “Leo” Pratt, Sr., age 92, formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 5th, at home after a long illness. His wife, Rollande “Kitty” (Kelley) Pratt, predeceased him in 1998. He leaves 2 sons, Leo Pratt Jr. and his wife Gladys of Sabbatus, ME and Lou Pratt of Auburn; 5 daughters, Shirley wife of Francis Bernier of Sturbridge, Jean wife of James Eaton of Lewes, DE, Carol wife of Paul Gallant of Leicester, Doris wife of James Barton of Zypherhills, FL, and Melinda wife of Brendon Feeney of Northborough; a brother, Alphee Pratt of Maine; 3 sisters, Lorette Duquette, Louise and Florence Ducharme, all of Maine; 23 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. 2 brothers and 2 sisters predeceased him.

He was born in Manchester, NH, the son of Cleophas and O’Diana (Roberge) Pratt and lived in Auburn for many years. Leo was a lumberjack in his youth, working in northern New England for The Brown Company of Berlin, NH and later worked as a machinist at many shops in the Worcester area between the 1940’s through the 1960’s. He owned and operated Pratt Tree Removal of Auburn for over twenty years and sold and repaired chainsaws. Leo was a member of the Homebuilders Association of Massachusetts and a life member and Lodge Master of the Auburn Elks. He enjoyed the many family gatherings and never missed a chance to tell his granddaughters how beautiful they are and attributed his longevity to his daily glass of ginger brandy and his great grandchildren.

The funeral is Monday, October 9th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 9:30 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 8th, in the funeral home. The Auburn Lodge of Elks will perform a ritual at 7:00 P.M. during the calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
