William P. Nowick, 79, a lifelong resident of Worcester, died on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, in the Lutheran Home of Worcester. He leaves three cousins, Ronald "Sonny" Stultz and Dorothea A. Shugrue, both of Worcester and Nancy Young of Sturbridge. He was born in Worcester, the son of William J. and Eleanor S. (Phillips) Nowick. Mr. Nowick was a World War II Navy Veteran and was stationed with Admiral Nimitz Office, Pacific Fleet Commander and Chief; and was a Yeoman in charge of combat readiness and fleet gunnery divisions. He worked in banking for 30 years, retiring as a Director from People's Savings Bank in Worcester. From 1942 until his retirement, he worked back stage at the Plymouth Theater, Centrum and the Worcester Auditorium and Mechanics Hall for the Central Mass Symphony Orchestra. He was the Northeast Director and Life member of the Sampson Navy World War II Veteran's Association. A private funeral service will be held in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund, Lutheran Home of Worcester, 26 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609. |
