Walter Clarke, 78, of Old Ware Rd., died Monday, March 20, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Janet D. (Groleau) Clarke; one son, Mark A. Clarke of West Brookfield; four daughters, Judy Clarke of West Brookfield, Cynthia Lloyd of Warren, Susan Dill of Millbury and Lisa Pensinger of Warren; two brothers, Harry Clarke, Jr. and Robert Clarke of Worcester; three sisters, Cecelia Bender of Sutton, Eva Savage of Florida and Dorothy Brooks of Auburn; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother and two sisters predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Harry and Anna (Carrol) Clarke and grew up there before moving to West Brookfield in 1974. Mr. Clarke worked as a mechanic for 30 years for the former G. F. Steel & Wire Co. in Worcester before retiring in 1983. He was a Army Veteran of W.W. II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Adam-Coney-Frew Post 244 American Legion in West Brookfield and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the West Brookfield Senior Center and was a volunteer driver for them for many years. |
