Roger M. “Stretch” Olson, 87, of 295 Pakachoag Street, Auburn, formerly of Grafton, died Sunday, March 5th in the Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness. He leaves his wife, Mary M. (Skamarak) Bucinskas Olson; two daughters, Linda J. and her husband David A. Pearlstein of Hopkinton and Mary E. and her husband, Karl E. Hubbard of South Grafton; a sister, Marion Hunt of W. Brookfield; four grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Mazza and Keith and Kathleen Hubbard; six step-children, Bonnie Johnson and husband Dick of Auburn, Judy King and her husband, Lenny of Auburn, Gail Messier and her husband, Dick of Leicester, Diane Ferguson and her husband, Jerry of Auburn, Raymond Beauregard and his wife Terry of Upton, and Wendy Beauregard of Auburn. He is also survived by many step-grandchildren, step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first two wives, Catherine (Riordan) Olson and Ida “Rickie” (Lindberg) Olson. Mr. Olson was born in Auburn, son of the late Martin and Alice (Fleury) Olson and had lived in Grafton for many years before moving to Auburn 20 years ago. He graduated from Hitchcock Academy in Brookfield and then had entered the military serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps during W.W. II. He had worked as an Inventory Manager at Wyman-Gordon for 38 years before he retired in the early 1980’s. Roger also was a well known local entertainer. He had played in several area clubs and for many private functions throughout the years. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn, where he served as a lector, deacon, usher, and was a member of the choir and the men’s group there. He also was a former member of the Frohsinn Club in Shrewsbury. |
