Tuesday, May 26, 1998 Worcester Telegram WORCESTER– Edna H. (Donahue) Bailey, 85, of Eastern Avenue, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home. She leaves her husband of 68 years, Benjamin J. Bailey; a daughter, Dorothy “Cass” Wilkins of Worcester; twin sisters, Helene Hendricks and Irene Allen, both of Philadelphia; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Elaine Bradshaw of Worcester, died in 1977. She was born in North Attleboro, daughter of John Thomas and Ada (Stokes) Donahue, and lived in Worcester all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Mrs. Bailey worked during World War II at Arter Grinder Company as a drafter machinist. Afterward, she was a housekeeper and nanny and retired in 1977. She was a charter member and trustee of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She worked many years as a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Missionary Society. She was a member of the Negro Junior League of Worcester and the Phyllis Wheatley Club, and was a volunteer at the Emmanuel Baptist Thrift Shop. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. tomorrow at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 717 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
