Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary E. “Mae” (Bracey) Warren, 76, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Saint Vincent Hospital. Her husband, Edward L. Warren predeceased her in 1992. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Charles W. Boykin in 1959.
     Mary is survived by her loving family including, two sons, Charles Boykin and his wife Annette and Edward L. Warren, Jr., all of Worcester; six daughters, Charleen Forbes of Worcester, Sandra Harris and her husband Edward of Fayetteville, NC, Brenda Pickens and her husband Pastor Earnest Pickens of Piedmont, SC, Linda Warren of Worcester, Nancy Downes and her husband Basil of Fayetteville, NC, and Michelle Warren of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, Samuel Bracey of Worcester; two sisters, Joyce Adubofour of Rochester, NY and Rev. Shirley Robinson of Providence, RI; and aunt, Muriel Anderson of Worcester; twenty two grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Spencer Boykin; a granddaughter, Aesha Mays and a brother, Charles Bracey. Mary was born in Camden, South Carolina, daughter of Sam and Cormelia (Carlos) Bracey.
     Mary worked as a teacher in the Worcester Public School system for many years at Belmont Street Community School, Canterbury Street School and Chandler Community School, where she retired. She found retirement to be less than she thought, so she came out of retirement to teach at The Seven Hills Charter Public School.
     She was a member of Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church and was active in many church functions, including the choir, serving as a missionary and a Church Steward.
     Calling hours for Mary will be held on Wednesday, August 1, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, August 2, at 11 a.m. in Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church, 55 Illinois Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
