Subscription Update Obituary

    M. Joseph Barron, 92, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Friday, November 6th at home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 65 years, Helen I. (Maki) Barron, died in 2008.

    He leaves a son, David M. Barron and his wife Patricia of Ashburnham; a daughter, Nancy A. Whalen and her husband Jim of Worcester; a brother, Bernard Barron of San Francisco, CA; four grandchildren, Eric and Cheryl Barron and Brendan and Erin Whalen. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Barron and two sisters, Dorothy Barron and Mary Fortier.

    He was born in Fitchburg, the son of Michael and Annie J. (Walsh) Barron and was a machinist for Heald Machine Company for 43 years, retiring as foreman in 1982. Mr. Barron was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Greendale Retired Mens Club and the Quinsigamond Lodge Vasa of America Order 517. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. Prior to World War II, he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.

    Joe had many talents and could fix anything. He loved boating, fishing, gardening, golfing and spending time with his family. He also loved to cook and was famous for his coffee bread. He was the heart of the family and the first to help those in need.

    Mr. Barron’s family would like to thank Ashli Erbasol and VNA Care Hospice for the care they provided for him.

    The funeral is Thursday, November 12th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour is from 8:30 until 9:30 A.M. Thursday in the funeral home.
