Kimberly A. “Kim” Ducharme, 30, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 2nd after suffering a severe asthma attack at home.
She leaves behind her loving parents Kenneth A. and Debra (Biladeau), her soulmate Ben Hedman and her beautiful children Donate Ducharme and Delilah Hedman.
Kim was born in Worcester on January 16, 1989. She attended Doherty Memorial High School, class of 2007; Wheelock College and Anna Maria College, graduating with a BA in Social Work. Kim knew at an early age that she wanted to help others, especially the less fortunate; and she found her passion and her purpose in this world assisting children with special needs. She had a rewarding career, working with children and young adults in the autistic community through several agencies in the Worcester area.
During her teenage years, Kim was a member of the Blessed Sacrament CYC and was an altar server and cheerleader for Pop Warner Football. She later became a coach for the cheer squad and spent time as a gymnastics’ coach. In addition to coaching and cheering, she enjoyed Hampton Beach, fishing going to the casino, and working on crafts and other DIY projects, especially with her children. She was fond of mermaids and elephants.
Above all else, Kim lived for her family. She was a loving partner to Ben and a devoted mother to their children. They were the loves of her life and she adored spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, partner and children, Kim is survived by her brothers, Christopher Ducharme and Sean Cross; Josephine Riche and Dan Coy, whom she considered her sister and brother; paternal grandfather Donald Durcharme and his wife Mary; her “in-laws” Terasha and Gabe Hedman and nephew, Jessiah and niece, Jahya; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and the Sisters of Notre Dame De Namur who were considered extended family. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Richard and Martha Biladeau and her paternal grandmother, Josephine Fassett; her “in-laws” Lynn Hedman, her uncle Lloyd Lavellee.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 8th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Chiampa Funeral Home ~ 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Blessed Sacrament Church ~ 551 Pleasant Street, Worcester on Friday, August 9th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer Association or the American Cancer Society.
