Subscription Update Obituary

     Virginia “Ginny” (Monroe) Jansson of Baldwinville, formerly of Holden, MA, passed away Saturday April 11, 2015 under the loving care of her family and the staff at Baldwinville Nursing Home.

Virginia was born in Worcester, MA, March 23, 1925, daughter of the late Henry B. and Lottie (Weld) Monroe. Ginny was raised and educated in Worcester. She is a graduate of the Fanning Girls Trade High School and was employed by Lundborg & Co Jewlers in Worcester for many years.

Following her marriage to Walter Stanley Jansson of Auburn, she continued to reside in Worcester until 1953 when she and her family moved to Holden. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, and loved spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, and being at the ocean. Stan and Ginny spent 64 happy years together in Holden, and later, Largo, Fl for the winters following Stan’s retirement. Stan passed away in 2010. Ginny moved to Gardner to be closer to her family and was the first resident to move into Heywood-Wakefield Commons Assisted Living Facility in the fall of 2011.

Ginny will be long remembered for her fun loving nature and wit. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Sandra and her husband Peter Blackford of Naples FL, and Ruth and her husband Randy Florence of Gardner. She leaves five grandchildren, Ripp Charters and his wife Phyllis of Gardner, Ross Charters and his wife Moki Brown of Brooklyn, NY, Amy Barker and her husband Tim of Naples, FL Kendal Blackford of Naples, FL, and Henry Blackford and his wife Rae of Naples, FL, six great-grandchildren; Matthew and Ruth-Ann Barker, Kiley Charters, Mika Charters, Annabel and Adair Blackford, and several nephews and nieces.

Ginny was predeceased by her husband W. Stanley Jansson and three sisters; Marion Gormly, Ruth Gomez, and Barbara Monroe.

Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Ginny’s life by gathering for calling hours in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Friday April 17, 2015 from 11AM until 12PM. Her funeral service will follow beginning at 12PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ginny’s name may be made to Baldwinville Nursing Home, Staff Recognition and Appreciation Events, 51 Hospital Rd., PO Box 24, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
