Nancy A. (Britland) Gelinas, 73, of Worcester, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, surrounded by her family at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.

She leaves her husband and love of her life for 44 years, Ronald P. Gelinas; five children, Charleen Mullaney of Spencer, Kevin Keenan of Melbourne, Fla., James Keenan of Dudley, Kelley Fields of Worcester, and Nicole Sacco and her fiancé, Eric Corbett, of Spencer; six grandchildren, Arielle, James, Michael, Timarie, Shawn and Alexander; five great-grandchildren, Taylah, Shane, Raelyn, Jace and Cash; and several aunts, cousins and many lifelong friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Nancy was born in Fall River, daughter of the late James and Anita (Gaudreau) Britland. She lived most of her life in Worcester.

She was a graduate of Commerce High School.

Nancy was a home health care aide for many years before retiring. Previously, she worked at Goretti’s Supermarket in Cherry Valley.

She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, reading and going to the beach where she often had one of her kids running to fill her spray bottle because salt water helped the tan!

Nancy was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren. It made her smile when she became ‘Nana’ and she beamed when that changed to ‘Great Nana.’ She loved when her family visited her.

We would like to thank the nurses of 6ICU and 7ICU at UMASS for the care and tenderness they showed her and her family during her final weeks. They helped make her laugh when she could and they helped her (especially Rita) to fight her illness right to the end. We know she’s at peace now with no more pain and in the arms of her loving Papa who she missed so dearly.

Calling hours are Monday, October 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 25, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church. 1222 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Flowers may be sent or donation in Nancy’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association , 1661 Worcester Road, Suite 301, Framingham, MA 01701.
