Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary Cecilia “Ceil” Brosnan, 95, of Worcester, died October 4, 2014 in the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, Worcester.

Her husband, Walter J. Brosnan, died in 1993.

She leaves seven sons, Rev. David R. Brosnan of North Carolina, Paul J. Brosnan, Richard A. Brosnan and Neil Brosnan, all of Worcester, Peter R. Brosnan of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Stephen Brosnan of Springfield, Oregon and Michael Brosnan of Westford; a daughter, Charlotte A. Perry of Worcester; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a niece, Carol Dufresne.

She is also predeceased by her sister, Ruth McMahon.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of James and Charlotte (Murphy) McElhinney.

She was as graduate of Commerce High School.

The family would like to extend their thanks and love to all those who cared for Ceil in her long, long journey. Ceil’s family is grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care from Jewish Health Care Center with all their complementary extended specialties, and also for the loving caregivers at Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence where Ceil spent her final months.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, at 10 a.m. in the Ellen Rogers Kennedy Chapel at Rural Cemetery, 180 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perkins Trust, Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.

The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester is directing arrangements.
