Subscription Update Obituary

     Virginia “Mimi” M. (Elia) Jacobson, 87, of Holden formerly a resident of Paxton, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 6, 2012 surrounded by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Stephen W. Jacobson of Paxton. She is survived by her daughter, Robyn Scalley, her husband James and granddaughter, Bryana Scalley all of Holden; her son, Jay Jacobson, his wife Victoria and granddaughter, Samantha Jacobson, all of Hopkinton; a niece, Jodi Cooper and her fiancé, Thomas Steele of Worcester, and many other nieces and nephews.

     Virginia was born and raised in Worcester, to the late Sebastian and Gladys (Malhoit) Elia. She is predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Fredrick, Wilber, Wilfred, George, Richard and Paul, and sisters, Gloria, Barbara and Theresa.

     She was a graduate of Commerce High School and Becker College and worked for many years as an Executive Assistant and Office Manager for Inner-Tite Corp. of Holden (formerly Olsen Manufacturing), retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Holden, was an avid baker and quilter and loved spending the holidays with her granddaughters. Virginia was a loving and generous person who had many friends who will miss her. A special thanks to her caretaker and friend, Barbara, who helped make it possible for Virginia to stay at home the last weeks of her life.

     A memorial service for Virginia will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 22, in St. Francis Episcopal Church, Holden. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland Street, Holden, MA 01520. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
