Ronald E. LaReau, 84, previously of 39 Barnard Road Worcester, MA died April 8, 2014 in the Lutheran Home. Ronald was born July 18, 1929 in Worcester to Emile and Beatrice (Goyette) LaReau. His wife Mae (Pollinger)
LaReau predeceased him, together they shared 55 years of marriage and had six children. He leaves behind five daughters, Susan VanBuskirk of Millbury, MA, Denise Rugg of Worcester, MA, Donna Winslow of Grafton, MA, Julie LaReau of Worcester, MA, Cynthia Stewart of Spencer, MA, and a son Joseph LaReau of West Boylston, MA. He is predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Winslow, and survived by eight grandchildren: Troy Winslow, Kirsten Demoga, Katie Roger, Jillian Rugg, Janelle Posey, Joshua Rugg, Shauna Callahan and Josh Stewart. He leaves eight great grandchildren, and four siblings: Aline Cattachio, Joan Beley, Donald and Roland LaReau, as well as several nieces and nephews. Earlier in his life, he was a stalwart of his family during difficult financial times caring and providing for his siblings whom to this day are still eternally grateful.
Ronald was a hard worker who enjoyed many careers in several industries, most notably, his own successful landscape maintenance company, which he founded and ran for over 20 years before retiring in 1982. After selling his business he fulfilled his ambition of returning to school to complete his education. In retirement, he enjoyed his home to the fullest spending time outdoors with his wife and traveling to Bermuda, Canada, Florida and Mexico. Occasionally, he enjoyed a good cigar, but the most important and favorite things in life were always his
wife’s cooking and loving companionship. Possessing a strong and stubborn constitution with an unmatched determined will to live, he was a survivor to his core. Through his actions, words and deeds he taught many valuable lessons to his family and friends which will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
A private ceremony will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation online at www.arthritis.org. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., N. Grafton, MA 01536.
