Subscription Update Obituary

     Roland L. O’Coin, 92, of 19 Church St., died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Nov. 29th, 2013.

     He leaves his wife of 67 years, Gertrude B. (Messier) O’Coin; two sons, Paul R. O’Coin and his wife Kathleen of Millbury and Francis L. O’Coin of Worcester; four daughters, Elaine M. Courtemanche and her husband Barry of W.Brookfield, Jeanine A. Morgan of Whitsett, NC, Joanne F. Frederick and her husband Lot of Southbridge and Amy L. O’Coin of E.Brookfield; a brother, Harold Letendre of Lantana, FL; a sister, Lillie B. Letendre of Spencer; 15 grand, 9 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.

     Roland worked at Rexnord Co. in Auburn for 39 years, retiring in 1984.

     Born in Spencer, he was the son of Leo and Eva (Duval) O’Coin and lived most of his life in Spencer before moving to W.Brookfield last year. He was a graduate of David Prouty High School and later served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138 in Spencer, Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish where he was a longtime organist and singer there and for several area churches. He was a former member of the local band “The Korn Kobs”, and was most recently a pianist for the Silver Tones at the W.Brookfield Senior Center.

     The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wing Hospice, 40 Wright St., Palmer, MA 01069.
