Philip John Nadeau, 61, of Worcester, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Worcester.
Philip John was born a beautiful and energetic young man with full hope of a bright future and a normal life. Tragically, a childhood accident severally disabled his development.
When Philip reached the age of seven it was determined that it would be in his best interest to live in an institutional setting. He spent the next 42 years at Wrentham State School where he could receive the education, care and recreation he deserved. He especially enjoyed the activity of horseback riding.
In the year 2000, Philip moved to a group home in Worcester where he remained for the rest of his life under the loving care of the staff. He regularly attended Seven Hills Foundation. Philip was extremely athletic and had a very discernable sense of humor. He recognized and loved his parents and brothers. Although non-verbal, Philip had his own communication system that those around him had to learn. He liked being patted on the head and usually would wait for this acknowledgment before he was willing to follow direction (He knew how to control the situation). Philip was very well liked by those around him for his playful and innocent manner. He will be sorely missed.
He leaves his two brothers, William R. Nadeau, of Auburn, Ma, and Timothy P. Nadeau and his wife Laurie of Leicester; his nieces & nephews, Erin Nadeau and Vince Kane of Franklin NH, Christopher Nadeau and Danielle Garland of Belmont, Lyndsey Nadeau of Leicester. He was born in Worcester, son of William J. “Red” and Katherine (Amas) Nadeau, who predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Philip’s family on Thursday, December 27th from 10:30 Am to 12 Noon. A funeral prayer service will then be held at 12 Noon, at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
